DAY 3 -- Peter's Post

Hey Folks,

I'll go ahead and say sorry for any misspelled words b/c I'm in a hurry. :) We are here and the electricity is back on after 20 hours. It was out in the whole city. This place is awesome and the people are so friendly. We are at 10,700 feet so we walk up a flight of stairs and your heart is beating in your head and you are huffing like you ran a marathon. Yesterday we drove from sea level to 16,000 feet in 4 hours. Only one student was affected by the altitude.

Today is Sunday and we spent the morning worshiping with a Baptist church and then broke up into our teams and planned out our week. This afternoon one team of 8 did ministry with kids, youth, and adults in a village outside of town and 3 women decided they wanted to give their lives to follow Jesus. Some of the native Peruvian ladies are going back up there next week to meet with these ladies to get a Bible study going for them in the weeks and months ahead. One day... 3 new believers. Tomorrow most teams are going into elementary schools to teach kids about hygiene, living well, and the good new of Jesus. So pray the Holy Spirit will take our love and words and change little hearts for Christ. My team is also painting a building for the mayor of a village so we have an opportunity to serve this village and share love and hope of Christ too.

All our students are energized and working well together. They are praying together and truly trusting God to use them.

We had Chinese food last night and Italian tonight...but hope to have Peruvian food soon!

The weather was colder today, jackets and all...it's late fall here. The sun at this altitude is really intense so we bought sun screen today.

Thanks for the prayers, we really appreciate it. Here's a few more...

-we would stay sick free.
-that we would live Isaiah 40 and put our hope in the Lord so we can run and not grow weary...b/c we are going full out and could easily get tired.
-we only have 4 more days here in Huancayo--that we would seize every moment to love and minister.
-pray not for one or two people but for the whole village to come to know Christ and be mature in Him so they could reproduce disciples.
-Pray for the 3 new believers today and they would grow.

I'll update again later.

Peter
